My philosophy is that journalism isn´t just about telling the public what´s happening; we should be writing for truth, justice and social change wherever pòssible. I admire the Naomi Kleins of this world, and my goal is to write mainly about issues that challenge the global power structure and encourage people to question what they are being told by mainstream media monopolies that seek to enhance profit rather than inform or educate societies. I am a freelance journalist who has an acute awareness of the (often scary) power of the media, and from a young age I always wanted to write in order to challenge the status quo.

In any case you won’t find any crap about fashion, celebrity, or popular culture in my blog, unless I’m on my high horse about their tiring, ubiquitous role in modern society. I write about daily observations, spirituality and science, politics and society, corporatism and economy, green issues, anything I find remotely interesting, wacky or wonderful, anything I deem worthy to be shared with others. Whilst most of my bigger features are very political, it´s not all hard-hitting: I am a big music and festival fan and I love to write gig reviews, travel pieces and various light-hearted articles too.

The blog is not extensive, it´s simply a selection of my work. Some posts are articles I’ve had published, some are spontaneous musings, some were simply scribbled on notebooks in furious contempt or sheer disbelief at various ludicrous happenings and were forgotten about until now, but  I hope that all of them are worth a look……

  1. Hi Roger, thought I’d replied to that but for some reason it’s not showing….am confused as to why you think I would advertise my personal contact details over the world wide web…as you can see, comments are enabled and whatever you’d like to say can be said here! I presume from looking at your page that the subject i need to educate myself on is DU. As you can see from the comments on my latest blog, I’ve been having quite a debate with Thomas (above). If you’d like to join in and educate me, feel free. It is, after all, an arena for differing opinions. :)

  2. Your blog is awesome Sophie. Your moral compass is spot on and the way you express your thoughts through language is an absolute pleasure for the reader. I want to read about your views on Spain/Andalucia/village life/relationships (or I could just email you I guess)…
